There has been a lot of talk around trolling, but real trolling doesn't happen on social media, that's child play. Real world trolls are far more deceitful and dangerous.
These trolls are professional victims.
And you don't deal with them by giving them an arena to play the victim in media spotlight. You just don't because that's their endgame. To stay in limelight.
Reaction of conservative forces are always predictable. It is emotional and blunt. Conservatives are not known to put their point across passively. In fact, they takes pride in their masculine approach in dealing with irritants.
But that is also their Achilles's heel.
Because they can be provoked so easily. So much that journos like Barkha and Rajdeep, and politicians like Kejriwal and Kanhaiya can plan their way ahead. Like moving chess pieces.
This pattern keeps repeating, it's not even funny. Right wing should be able to catch on by now. But in real world it's easier said than done.
If we just focus on the JNU / Gurmehar / Ramjas fiasco - none of their 'azaadi tamasha' would have been more than some idiotic communists being communists, had ABVP not been so easy to trigger.
Congress, AAP and left-media placed their bets behind this chain of events, and that is what happened.
ABVP is predictable. Right wing doesn't have the tact or patience. And the left extremists, the professional victims, the expert provocateurs, the master trolls know that well, they plan their gorilla tactics based on right wing's triggers.
Aggressive tactics are a means when you don't have a case, so you stonewall the opposition with shock and awe. Like Shiv Sena established it's base. BJP has the support of the masses. This is the time to up the level of debate.
This is the time to rein-in the strong-arms and dispense stands only through the official means.
BJP has been in a dire need of professional spokesman-ship for quite some time. It's present at higher levels, is visible in the parliament, but ends there.
It's urgent, why?
Because despite the most idiotic arguments and inarticulate defenses, a bunch of students, have managed to garner so much negative publicity. And this cycle can repeat endlessly, till it starts germinating support.
You don't have to draw out swords every time just to swat a few mosquitoes.
